Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Electrical & Electronic
University of Melbourne · Parkville, Melbourne
Honours degree in electrical and electronic engineering — embedded systems, power systems and PCB design, finished with an industry-sponsored smart energy meter.
Overview
Jenks studied electrical and electronic engineering at the University of Melbourne from 2010 to 2013, graduating with honours. He was a member of Engineers Australia at the time.
What Jenks learned and built
- Electronics design for analogue and high-speed digital applications.
- Printed circuit board design for manufacture in Altium Designer; excellent through-hole and surface-mount soldering.
- Engineering software: Matlab, Simulink, LTSpice and Cadence.
- Linux systems for software development and embedded hardware; electronic product prototyping; C programming and AVR microprocessor programming.
- Final-year project: an industry-sponsored Linux smart energy meter with Metropolis Metering Assets (see Projects).
Why it matters to employers
An engineer's training — first principles, measurement, standards and safety — under all of Jenks's later work. It is why he is comfortable going from a circuit to a cloud API to an AI agent.
